Yung Joc Slams Insurance Fraud Allegations - Starpulse.com

Yung JocRapper Yung Joc has lashed out at allegations suggesting he staged a robbery at his studio in Atlanta, Georgia earlier this month to cash in on an insurance policy.

The It's Goin' Down star, real name YaMar Robinson, was not present on December 18th when two armed robbers pounced on his brother and his girlfriend as they arrived at the building and forced them inside.

The thieves got away with over $50,000-worth of hi-tech equipment and rumors have since surfaced suggesting Yung Joc was the brains behind the raid - allegations he has vehemently denied.

He tells local news station WSB-TV, "I've been seeing stories where people say this is about insurance fraud. The truth is, I did not have insurance. I was in the process of deciding who I wanted an insurance policy with."

And Yung Joc reveals he's been forced to put up a cash reward for the safe return of his hard drives - because they contain priceless new music featuring collaborations with high-profile artists.

He adds, "(They took) my speakers, TVs, my recording equipment. I've got songs with Jazmine Sullivan, Lil Wayne, Pitbull - I mean, big name artists."
?
He is offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to the recovery of his stolen hard drives.

(AP) ? Mitt Romney and Rick Perry on Wednesday assailed Republican presidential rival Ron Paul for saying the U.S. has no business bombing Iran to keep it from acquiring a nuclear weapon, drawing a sharp contrast with their rising rival as he returned to Iowa to campaign before the lead-off caucuses.

"One of the people running for president thinks it's okay for Iran to have a nuclear weapon," Romney, the former Massachusetts governor, said in this eastern Iowa city in response to a question from the audience. "I don't."

It was the first time Romney has challenged Paul directly since the Texas congressman jumped in polls. Neither Romney nor Perry, the Texas governor, named Paul, but the target was clear.

"You don't have to vote for a candidate who will allow Iran to have a nuclear weapon to wipe Israel off the face of the earth. Because America will be next," Perry said in Urbandale, reiterating a line of argument from a day earlier.

"I'm here to say: You have a choice," Perry added.

As if in rebuttal, Paul's campaign launched a new television ad describing him as "principled, incorruptible, guided by faith and principle" and the man to restore the economy. "Politicians who supported bailouts and mandates, serial hypocrites and flip floppers can't clean up the mess," it says as photos of Newt Gingrich and Romney appear on screen.

The stepped-up criticism of Paul, the libertarian-leaning Republican, comes as surveys show he's in contention to win Tuesday's caucuses.

In recent days, conservative opponents including Perry and Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann have increased their criticism of Paul on social issues, foreign affairs and inflammatory comments in his decades-old newsletter. By tearing him down, they hope voters will give their campaigns another, closer look after a season marked by candidates who have risen quickly in public standing only to fall back down.

Gingrich, whose slide in surveys over the past week has come as Paul has risen, said Tuesday he couldn't vote for Paul if he were to become the GOP nominee and called his views "totally outside the mainstream of every decent American" during an interview with CNN.

Gingrich, the former House speaker, began Wednesday, the second day of his Iowa bus tour with a speech to about 200 people in the atrium of the Southbridge Mall in Mason City. He plugged his support for supply-side economics favored by President Ronald Reagan.

Gingrich said the primary is giving voters a "choice between a populist supply side approach ... and a much more timid Washington-centered approach that will not create jobs."

Bachmann, who was on the 86th stop of her tour of Iowa's 99 counties, criticized both of her rivals from Texas. She accused Perry of spending "27 years as a political insider." He was a Texas legislator and agriculture commissioner before becoming governor in 2001.

Bachmann said Paul would be "dangerous as president" because of his hands-off views on national security.

Paul, for his part, was meeting with supporters near Des Moines, his first visit to the state since before the campaigns went dark for the Christmas holiday. He planned a series of events over the next two days as he looked to take advantage of a burst of momentum.

A conservative, Paul commands strong allegiance from his supporters but appears to have little potential to expand his appeal and emerge as a serious challenger for the nomination. Yet he could complicate other candidates' pathway to the nomination.

His opponents were spreading out across the state to woo potential caucus-goers, many of whom are still undecided amid a flood of television and radio ads.

In Independence, former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum mingled with 25 people at a diner and touted his plan to give a tax break to businesses that bring their operations back to the United States.

He told diners: "Things are going great, we've got momentum." He began airing a new radio ad Wednesday that promotes his hardline opposition to abortion and describes him as a "father of seven, a home-schooler and a devoted husband for 21 years."

Romney kicked off a three-day bus tour in the eastern edge of the state, in Muscatine, and shook hands with an overflow crowd at Elly's Tea and Coffee House. The line to get in stretched into the street.

Beginning the day, Romney told Fox News Channel that he was only joking Monday when he criticized Gingrich's failure to earn a spot on the Virginia ballot as something out of the sitcom "I Love Lucy."

"I hope the speaker understands that was humor, and I'm happy to tell my humorous anecdote to him face to face," Romney said.

Gingrich on Tuesday challenged Romney to make the "I Love Lucy" comparison to Gingrich's face.

Perry, looking to recapture the enthusiasm that greeted his entry into the race in August, railed against Washington and Wall Street insiders as he met with conservatives for breakfast near Des Moines.

"Why should you settle for less than an authentic conservative who will fight for your views and your values without apologies?" he asked, delivering the core rationale for his candidacy.

The packed crowd of conservatives in Urbandale applauded as he pledged to champion a constitutional amendment to balance the federal budget, secure the border within a year and crack down on illegal immigration. He also said he would bring his faith with him into the Oval Office, a nod to the Christian conservatives who have strong sway in the nominating process.

Israel Strikes Terrorists in Sudan

On December 15, Israel bombed a convoy in Sudan as it approached Egypt that was delivering weapons to Hamas for Iran. The Sudanese media said another unreported strike on a convoy took place in early December.

The strikes, carried out by jets, aircraft and possibly even a submarine, took place on the Red Sea District of eastern Sudan, specifically Abu Thabaq. According to one report, two Apaches landed on a Sudanese island with a radar station but were undetected. That?s embarrassing for the Bashir regime to say the least. At least four people (presumably terrorists) died and six Land Cruiser jeeps. The earlier attack destroyed at least one truck in Sudan near Egypt.

This is not unprecedented. Israel reportedly bombed a vehicle near Port Sudan earlier this year, and in 2009, there was a large strike on about 20 convoys in Sudan. There have been reports of additional strikes, but as you might expect in a covert operation, details are scarce.

I?d expect these strikes to increase, as Omar Bashir has promised to turn his control into a full-blown Islamist state where Arabic is the official language and Sharia is the only source of legislation. I?ve also noticed that the talk we heard of the U.S. delisting Sudan as a State Sponsor of Terrorism isn?t around anymore. This is a good thing, as Sudan?s sponsorship of Hamas and radical Islam as a whole should not be overlooked.

On a humorous note: I saw one message board posting reacting to this news that said, ?Israel believes it is better to give than to receive.?

Mexican army: Ally's arrest is blow to 'El Chapo' (AP)

MEXICO CITY ? Mexican authorities said Monday that they had dealt a blow to the country's most powerful drug cartel with the capture of a top lieutenant ? but didn't say if they were any closer to capturing the gang's elusive leader.

Felipe Cabrera Sarabia, known as "The Engineer," allegedly ran operations for the Sinaloa drug cartel, Mexico's most powerful, in the northern state of Durango and in part of the northern state of Chihuahua, Chief Army spokesman Gen. Ricardo Trevilla told a news conference. Cabrera, wearing a bulletproof vest, was paraded before the news media in what has become a common practice for law enforcement authorities following major arrests.

Many experts and law-enforcement officials believe the reputed leader of the Sinaloa cartel, Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman, has been hiding in the mountains of Durango. Authorities say Guzman is Mexico's top drug lord, while Forbes magazine has included him on its list of the world's richest men, reportedly worth more than $1 billion. He has eluded authorities since his 2001 escape from prison in a laundry truck, and has a $7 million bounty on his head. Trevilla offered no information about the hunt for Guzman. He only said that Cabrera's capture "will affect the structure and leadership of the Sinaloa cartel."

At the time of Cabrera's arrest, army special forces also seized documents and computer equipment, he said.

Cabrera was nabbed without a shot being fired Friday in the capital of Sinaloa state, headquarters of the cartel, army officials first announced Sunday night.

He will be held for at least 40 days on suspicion of participating in organized crime and drug trafficking.

Trevilla said Cabrera and three of his brothers began as marijuana growers and that Cabrera rose through the Sinaloa ranks by using violence against his rivals.

In recent months, Cabrera waged war against a rival faction of the Sinaloa cartel known as the "Ms", leading to a surge in violence around Durango, he said.

Federal forces have found 14 mass graves containing 287 bodies in Durango state since April.

Sony Ericsson reminds us its sync service is shutting down, use Google's instead

Sony Ericsson

Sony Ericsson today is sending out e-mails reminding folks (or chaps, since the e-mail we received was sent to our UK operation) that it's shutting down its Sony Ericcson Sync service on Dec. 29. The good news, of course, is that you can (and really should) sync all the same stuff with your Google account, including your contacts and calendars, along with, well, every thing else Android does extremely well.

So, you've got a couple days left to get it down. SE's worked up some instructions to ease the transition. Give 'em a look.

Sears to close 100 to 120 Kmart, Sears stores

Between 100 and 120 Sears and Kmart stores will be closed, the retailer said Tuesday, after terrible holiday sales during what is the most crucial time of the year for retailers.

Sears has yet to determine which stores will be closed, but there has been a clear shift in where the retailer will devote its resources.

The company is moving away from its practice of propping up "marginally performing" stores in hopes of improving their performance. Sears said it will now concentrate on cash-generating stores.

"Given our performance and the difficult economic environment, especially for big-ticket items, we intend to implement a series of actions to reduce ongoing expenses, adjust our asset base, and accelerate the transformation of our business model," said CEO Louis D'Ambrosio. "These actions will better enable us to focus our investments on serving our customers."

Sears would not discuss how many, if any, jobs would be cut.

Sears Holdings Corp., based in Hoffman Estates, Ill., said that the store closings will generate $140 to $170 million in cash from inventory sales. The retailer anticipates additional proceeds from the sale or sublease of real estate holdings.

The company, which operates Kmart stores, Sears, Roebuck and Co. and Land's End, has seen rival department stores like Macy's Inc. and discounters like Target Corp. steal customers away. But the economy is put a sustained financial squeeze on its most loyal customers, those in the middle-income bracket.

The retailer had announced numerous closings this year, but this is the largest group of closings to date by far. Hoped for holiday sales to not materialize.

Same-store revenue fell 5.2 percent to date for the quarter at both Sears and Kmart, the company said Tuesday. That includes the critical holiday shopping period, a time that most retailers depend on for a sales surge that will put them in the black.

Kmart's 6 percent decline in revenue at stores open at least a year was blamed on diminished layaways and a drop in clothing and consumer electronics sales. Sears' cited lackluster consumer electronics and home appliance sales for its 4.4 percent drop off. Sears' clothing sales were flat, while sales of Lands' End products at Sears stores rose mid-single digits.

Sears Holdings said that the declining sales, ongoing margin pressure and rising expenses pulled its adjusted earnings lower. The company predicts fourth-quarter consolidated adjusted earnings will be less than half the prior-year period's $933 million. It also anticipates a non-cash charge of $1.6 billion to $1.8 billion in the quarter for a valuation allowance on some deferred tax assets.

This figure is a key gauge of a retailer's health because it excludes results from stores recently opened or closed.

Sears Holdings said it also plans to lower its fixed costs by $100 million to $200 million and trim its 2012 peak domestic inventory by $300 million from 2011's $10.2 billion at the third quarter's end.

Sears Holdings has more than 4,000 stores in the U.S. and Canada.

Healthcare-NOW! - Fewer Americans get health insurance through job

Employer-sponsored coverage is growing more expensive and covering less.

From AMA-ASSN.org ?

Findings by the Commonwealth Fund and polling by Gallup show that fewer workers are getting health insurance, and those who have it are paying more for less.

Polling released in November by Gallup showed the smallest percentage of American adults covered by employer-sponsored health insurance since the polling organization began tracking health insurance in 2008. As of the third quarter of 2011, 44.5% of adults were covered at work. That?s down from 50% at the end of 2008.

Research by the Commonwealth Fund, a private foundation that advocates better health care access and quality, found that from 2003 to 2010, health insurance premiums rose by 50% on average, much faster than income. Not only did the total cost rise, but the portion employees pay rose by 63%. The research showed that the premiums bought less generous benefits, with deductibles nearly twice as high in 2010 as in 2003.

?These are workers with jobs, with coverage ? during the same time, millions more lost their jobs,? said Cathy Schoen, co-author of the report.

According to Gallup, 17.3% of the people it polled in the third quarter of 2011 said they were uninsured, down slightly compared with the second quarter, when it hit 17.4%. That was the highest level reported since Gallup began tracking health insurance in 2008.

By comparison, the most recent U.S. Census data estimated that 16.3% of the population ? 49.9 million Americans ? was uninsured in 2010.

The reports are the latest in a series of studies in recent months establishing that patients are spending more money out-of-pocket to get health care ? and, as a result, are spending as little as they can. Various studies have estimated that physician office visits have declined 8% to 17% in recent months.

The Commonwealth Fund study examined the years before the enactment of health system reform, leading to the question of whether reform can take health care costs in a different direction.

The report by the fund, a supporter of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, examined the possible savings to families if the growth rate in premiums were to decrease by just 1%. That small drop would save an average family $2,161 by 2020. A 1.5% drop in the growth rate would save $3,173 during the same period.

Schoen and Commonwealth Fund President Karen Davis, PhD, said the health reform law could lower the growth in a few ways. One is that premium reviews by the Health and Human Services Dept. could make insurers more hesitant to raise prices without solid justification. HHS can?t invalidate premium hikes, but it can examine them.

Also, the Commonwealth Fund said, medical-loss-ratio minimums from 80% to 85% would mean that if insurers spend less than expected on care, they must return the excess to members. This is the first year the minimums must be applied. Coverage expansion in 2014 will eliminate some cost-shifting, which means the insured bear the cost of care for the uninsured, the fund said.

Health insurers have said the reform bill does little to control costs, which they say are driven not by their administrative costs or profits but by the underlying cost of care.

Speaking Nov. 15 at the Fall Forum hosted by the trade group America?s Health Insurance Plans, the group?s president and CEO, Karen Ignagni, said the scrutiny and transparency required under the health reform law could help insurers make their case that the underlying cost of care drives premiums higher.

Too often, she said, health care costs are equated with premiums, and government efforts to control costs stop with barring insurers from raising premiums.

She and others in the industry say elements of the reform law are likely to raise premiums. A few weeks before the Fall Forum, AHIP released research it had commissioned projecting that insurers would need to raise premiums by as much as 3.7% to cover the health insurance industry fee (AHIP calls it a ?premium tax?) that takes effect in 2014 under the reform law.

But Davis said she doubts insurers actually will increase the cost of coverage for those reasons. The coverage expansions that already have kicked in ? making adult children eligible for coverage under their parents? policies until age 26, for example ? have raised costs much more modestly than government actuaries predicted.

?When you look at large insurers, there is plenty of room for absorbing [cost],? she said. ?We could see a much more efficient insurance market in the future.?

(AP) ? As the FBI stepped up its efforts to find a 20-month-old girl who disappeared from her father's home over the weekend, investigators combed through trash bins, drained a stream and pored over more than 100 leads offered by the public.

Waterville Police Chief Joseph Massey refused to speculate Tuesday on whether Ayla Reynolds was alive, saying authorities are focused on finding her. The investigation remains a missing-person case, he said.

Meanwhile, in his first public statement, the girl's father, Justin DiPietro, said he doesn't know what happened to her.

"I have no idea what happened to Ayla, or who is responsible," he said. "I will not make accusations or insinuations towards anyone until the police have been able to prove who's responsible for this."

DiPietro released the statement through the Waterville Police Department, saying his family and friends will do "everything we can to assist in this investigation and get Ayla back home."

Massey said the FBI launched a door-to-door canvass of neighbors to glean any information that may lead them to the little girl.

"We've ruled out nothing," said Massey, whose central Maine agency has combined efforts with firefighters, state police, game wardens and the FBI.

Ayla was last seen when DiPietro, put her to bed Friday night. He called police to report her missing the following morning, saying he found her bed empty.

"I have shared every piece of information possible with the police," DiPietro said in his statement, which was first reported by the Morning Sentinel newspaper.

On Tuesday, a state police evidence vehicle remained outside the home that DiPietro shared with his mother in Waterville.

State police stationed outside the house told reporters that the DiPietros were not there. Their whereabouts were unknown to the public, and The Associated Press could not find phone numbers for them.

While the neighborhood was canvassed, police were checking out trash bins across the city. A stretch of Messalonskee Stream a few blocks from DiPietro home was drained nearly dry so wardens could get a better look, both from the ground and from an airplane overhead, officials said.

Massey said each of the 100 leads that have been given to police was being followed.

Ayla's mother said she's trying to remain optimistic that her daughter is OK. Trista Reynolds said she's trying to keep it together for an 8-month-old son who remains in her care but acknowledges the past few days have been tough.

"Sometimes I think that she's OK. Sometimes I start thinking that the worst can happen. That's how I've been feeling. I lay my head down at night and wonder where she is. Am I going to see her again? Do I get to see her beautiful smile?" Reynolds said of her daughter Ayla. "She's my little girl."

Police said both of Ayla's parents, who live separately, continued to cooperate with police.

"Ayla Reynolds is etched in all our minds and reminds every investigator why it's important to stay focused and committed to the task at hand: to bring Ayla back home," Massey said.

The Reynolds family was advised after meeting with Waterville police to return to their homes 75 miles to the south in Portland to let police conduct their investigation. Reynolds and her older sister, Jessica, were staying in a hotel Tuesday to keep away from the media frenzy.

"I'm watching my sister fall to pieces," Jessica Reynolds said. "I don't think she has any tears left to cry."

Trista Reynolds told The Associated Press that she and DiPietro never lived together as a couple. But Reynolds said a drinking problem prompted her to enter rehabilitation in Lewiston for 10 days in October; she said that although her mother and older sister cared for Ayla during that time, child welfare agents intervened to place the girl with DiPietro.

Last week, Reynolds filed court papers that she hoped would lead to the return of her daughter. The filing occurred the day before Ayla was last seen in Waterville.

DiPietro said Tuesday that although he has sole custody of his daughter, "It has always been my intention to have a shared parenting arrangement with Ayla's mother and I will continue to work towards that when Ayla is returned to us."

Teeth have very important role in the physical appearance of an individual. Additionally, having nice smile wholly depends on teeth. It is very important for your stomach to digest all the eaten food as poor digestion can really have a bad impact on your internal organs. This food digestion also strongly depends on your teeth strength as your teeth have to divide the food into small particles. Back-room negotiations begin on climate intentions (AP)

DURBAN, South Africa ? Back-room negotiations began in earnest Monday on a deal to rescue the only treaty governing greenhouse gas reductions and to launch talks on a broader agreement to include the world's largest polluters: China and other emerging economies, the United States and Europe.

Key players laid out their opening positions in public at U.N. climate talks in South Africa, and were beginning a round of private meetings to probe each other's meanings and intentions ? which remained murky.

South African authorities said they were deporting three activists from the Greenpeace environmental group after they were arrested trying to drape a protest banner from the rooftop of a beachfront hotel. The activists from Germany, Denmark and Australia pleaded guilty to trespassing in a court hearing, the Home Affairs Department said.

As the 194-nation conference moved into its decisive week, negotiators were feeling the pressure of a looming deadline: the expiry in 12 months of commitments by industrial countries to reduce climate-changing carbon emissions.

The European Union is championing a deal to get all major countries to agree to binding pollution targets in the future as its condition for renewing its commitments under the 1997 Kyoto Protocol. It wants an agreement now to begin negotiations on a new all-encompassing treaty that would conclude by 2015 and take effect five years later.

"We do not need more thinking, we need more action," said Connie Hedegaard, the European commissioner on climate action.

The linchpins of such a deal are China and the United States ? and both set hard conditions.

During the first week of the conference, attention honed in on China, and whether it was signaling new flexibility or reframing known positions.

After a private meeting with the Chinese, the Europeans walked away disappointed, said an EU delegate.

Despite public declarations it would participate in a legally binding agreement in the future, China unequivocally told the EU it would not accept binding targets for itself, said the delegate, speaking on condition of anonymity because negotiations were still in an early phase.

Earlier, China's top climate negotiator Xie Zenhua, in his first meeting with reporters, said China wanted to ensure all previous commitments by the industrial countries were met before entering into the next phase.

If that happened, he said, China could discuss a post-2020 deal. "The framework, I think, should be a legally binding one, or some documents to that effect."

But Xie set several "preconditions," including an extension of the Kyoto commitments for industrial countries, honoring commitments on immediate and long-term financial aid to poor countries, and delivery on promises of new technologies to develop low-carbon economies.

U.S. envoy Todd Stern said the United States has no objection to a post-2020 treaty, as long as it treats everyone the same.

Countries must accept "obligations and commitments that have the same legal force," Stern said.

But he did not believe that China and others were prepared to unconditionally accept legal parity with everyone else.

Stern said any future agreement should revise the division of countries into two distinct groups, industrial and developing, as they were defined in the basic 1992 climate convention.

"It just doesn't make any sense. The world has changed dramatically since 1992," he said.

Canadian Environment Minister Peter Kent affirmed Ottawa will not sign on to another round of emissions reductions commitments under the Kyoto Protocol ? regardless of any new stand by China.

Canada, Japan and Russia all announced last year their rejection of Kyoto's second commitment period, starting in 2013.

The signals from Beijing "could be an important development," and Canada is waiting to hear more details, Kent said. Nonetheless, "that would not change our position."

He made no announcement regarding earlier reports that Canada would formally withdraw from Kyoto by the end of the year.

If it did so, it would be the second signatory to renounce the accord. The first was the United States in 2001.

PlayStation Vita won't support simultaneous gaming and web-surfing (Digital Trends)

You?ll be able to do a lot of things with the PlayStation Vita, but pausing your game to look up the best strategy for defeating an enemy isn?t one of them.

According to Andriasang, Sony has confirmed that Vita users won?t be able to use the system?s web browser while playing a game ? though there will be a long list of functions that are available without leaving the game (including Twitter and the user?s music library).

Those who looked forward to going online in mid-game should take heart, however. Sony said the simultaneous web-browsing and game-playing won?t be available ?initially? ? meaning that this could conceivably change down the road.

Who knows? Maybe it will change in the time between the Vita?s release in Japan (December 17) and its arrival in North America and Europe (February 22).

Meanwhile, in Huntsman-world ... (Politico)

I'm not sure I have adequate words to describe this audio recording posted to the Jon Huntsman daughters' YouTube account. It's a 2012-themed song, set to the tune of "SexyBack," calling the rest of the Republican field a "circus act" and featuring a clip of Mitt Romney calling for abortion to be "safe and legal."

Readers may recall that Jon Huntsman said Tuesday that Herman Cain should consider getting out of the 2012 race to allow other candidates to "stay focused on the issues that really do matter for the American people."

LG Nitro HD hands-on (update: video)

AT&T stole some of LG's thunder earlier this week when it unveiled the company's LTE flagship -- the Nitro HD -- before the handset's official coming out soirée. Well, tonight LG's gone and thrown that fete anyway, introducing us (once again) to its 4.5-incher. But you have to wonder why the company's even bothering to roll out yet another Gingerbread-baked device when Samsung's Galaxy Nexus is already out of the gate and leading the Android charge with ICS -- not to mention the current availability of rival heavyweights like the Rezound and Droid RAZR. Still, the phone's packing some very respectable specs, with a "true" HD 1280 x 720 IPS display, dual 1.3 / 8 megapixel shooters, 20GB of storage (4GB internal / 16GB microSD) and a dual-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm APQ8060 processor running the show. Is it too late in the game for LG to make its beast matter? Follow past the break as we gather our first impressions of this tardy to the party entry.
