PFT: Eagles OT Peters tears Achilles' tendon

Jake+Long+Miami+Dolphins+Rookie+Mini+Camp+NfJ11vXWqnMl

While teams still kick the tires on free agent acquisitions, the Dolphins are turning their attention to securing a long future with some of their own players.

Omar Kelly of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports that the team has started talking about long-term deals for tackle Jake Long, linebacker Cameron Wake and wide receiver Brian Hartline. All three players are entering the final years of their contracts and taking care of deals now would keep the Dolphins from finding themselves in a tough spot next year.

Long, who voided the final year of his rookie deal, is set to make $11.2 million this season and he?ll likely be looking for a deal in the neighborhood of the one Joe Thomas got from the Browns last summer. Thomas got a seven-year, $84 million deal with $44 million guaranteed. That made him the highest-paid offensive tackle in the game, something that Long would probably be shooting for in a deal with the Dolphins.

Wake signed a four-year, $2.3 million deal when he jumped to Miami from the CFL in 2009. With 28 sacks in his first three seasons, there?s no question he?s outperformed the contract and that he?d be looking for a sizable jump in his next deal. The Dolphins could franchise either Long or Wake if no deal gets done before the end of next season, but they?d be in a tough spot if they can?t get one of them signed ahead of that point.

Hartline is in the final year of the deal he signed after being selected in the fourth round of the 2009 Draft. He?s caught 35 passes last season, although he could be in position to catch a lot this year with the move to Joe Philbin?s offense and no Brandon Marshall on the roster. If he does, getting him signed now would likely make it a better deal for the Dolphins.

Running back Reggie Bush, cornerback Sean Smith and defensive end Randy Starks are some of the other Dolphins entering the final years of their contracts.

The How And Why of Online Advertising | Submitedge Blog - Search ...

Online Advertising
The World Wide Web is the single largest advertising medium in the world. Television, print media, and radio combined can?t rival the amount of advertising exposure provided by the Web on a minute-to-minute basis. Success in the modern market is based in no small part on achieving Web presence, on maintaining Web visibility, and on building a strong, self-propagating online client base. No modern business can survive without some interaction with the Internet, no matter how small.

Developing a strategy for advertising your product online isn?t something you wait until the last minute to slap together. Without at least a basic understanding of online marketing your online visibility could suffer, and your revenues with it. Whether its interstitial ads, banner ads, Rich Media Ads, e-mail marketing, social media advertising, or the online classifieds, online advertising is a powerful tool that?s always at your disposal. Let?s break down the hows and whys of using online advertising to promote your brand, agency, or cause.

Three Lines, No Waiting

?

The internet is the only truly global, and the only instantaneous, marketing medium. Content publication isn?t limited by location, time, or size in any meaningful way. If you want an article to launch at the start of business in Vietnam, that?s no problem. If you want ads to go live at 3:30am, you can do that, too. This global approach to advertising has seen a lot of attention from the industry as its interactive advertising model begins to replace the interruptive advertising strategies that have characterized online ads for years.

Run a Tight Ship

?

Advertising online is a uniquely efficient investment prospect for the advertiser. Thanks to tools like Google AdSense, AdWords, and Yahoo! Search Marketing, online ads are fully customizable from their posting locations and the breadth of their distribution to their content and appearance. These platforms, among other features, let advertisers place their ads on search results pages alongside relevant results.

The Emergent Internet

?

The internet expands daily at a considerable rate and across almost all sectors. With such a rapid rate of growth, it comes as no surprise that advertisers are increasingly shifting their attention to the burgeoning market it represents for their work. Bringing in new consumers is always a priority for advertising professionals, and market research shows that consumers are very comfortable with online ads because of the degree of control they exercise over the ad as a digital phenomenon: namely, that they can choose to pursue or ignore links, banner ads, etc.

Animated ads, like the popular model for banner ads that occurs Web-wide, have proven themselves particularly popular and effective, but as a field it comprises everything from keyworded advertisements to promotions nested inside free online games hosted on social media networking sites like Facebook. Advertising on the Web allows access to both general market awareness-grabbing and to niche-targeting, wherein specialty sites are selected for special ad campaigns aimed at their users.

Projections for 2012 suggest that online advertising in the US alone would be a $34 billion-plus business. Increasingly, businesses have turned to online marketing campaigns as a way to fight the global economic downturn by securing new streams of revenue and engaging with their customers and fans.

What?s Out There, and How to Use it?

?

Online advertising is an umbrella term. Scrutinized, it really consists of many techniques that come under the same heading because of their application in the online arena. Payment models vary almost as widely as the types of adverts available for distribution, though many advertisers prefer models in which cost is incurred by usage or ad interaction. Let?s take a quick look at some of the most popular models for engaging in online advertising.

?

  • Mobile Ads:?Text or multi-media messages sent to cell phones.
  • Superstitial Ad: A type of animated advertisement pioneered by Unicast Communications, superstitial advertising utilizes 3D content, video, or Flash-supported media to manufacture a television-ad-like experience for visitors to a web site.
  • Floating Ad: An ad designed to float above a webpage or to move with the user?s screen.
  • Pop-up: The familiar pop-up windows involves a new window that pops up in front of the user?s currently open web page, obscuring it and featuring an ad.
  • Pop-under: Very similar in principal to a Pop-up, with the notable exception that the ad remains unseen until the user closes or minimizes their current windows.
  • Video Ad: A convenient crossover between television and the internet, video ads evoke a television experience and can be easily moved between the two mediums or featured simultaneously on both. In fact, doing just that is a common industry practice.
  • Expanding Ad: An ad that alters its size and which may also modify the contents of the webpage from which it is sourced.
  • Polite Ad: An ad downloaded incrementally so as not to disrupt the browsing experience of the visitor.
  • Wallpaper Ad: An ad that alters the background of a website being viewed, transforming it into an advertisement.
  • Trick or ?Decoy? Banner: A banner ad designed to resemble a Microsoft dialog box, complete with buttons. Considered highly dishonest and ethically suspect, usually attendant to malware.
  • Map Ad: An ad linked to a specific location on a service like the one provided by Google Maps. May be comprised of text, video, other media, etc.
  • Interstitial Ad: a full-page ad that appears during the transition from one page or website to another, usually timed or click-to-skip.

On Display

?

Spearheaded by the ever-popular web banner, display advertising takes many forms. Banners may be animated or static, silent or audio-capable, or they may even incorporate video elements. Display advertising is a valuable tool for raising brand awareness and for online branding in general. Visual ads are a principle of advertisement and brand promotion so basic that virtually any ad campaign is guaranteed to involve visuals on some level.

Visuals can help draw in your target audience, and display ads bring it to the next level of engagement. Quality art direction can pay for itself in the right sectors, and it?s never a bad idea to look professional, even if you?re not romancing the high fashion jet-set crowd.

Affiliate Marketing

?

Affiliate marketing is an online advertising stratagem in which a single advertiser organizes campaigns with an ideally significant number of publishers of all sizes on a pay for performance basis, meaning that publishers are compensated only if measurable site traffic (forms filled out, transactions logged, etc.) for the advertiser ensues from the campaign. Affiliate networks are a convenient avenue through which to pursue affiliate marketing strategies.

Affiliate marketing differs from referral marketing in that incentives are purely fiscal, without the involvement of personal relationships or recommendations. This market technique allows for broad distribution, market sector domination, and strong visibility.

Opt Into Advertising

?

Spam was the name of the game during the early 90?s, and even in the 2010?s it remains a huge industry, but opt-in Email advertising is becoming an important alternative to the frowned-upon practice of spam-mailing. Writing and distributing high-quality, unobtrusive Email ads to subscribing consumers has become a sizable industry in and of itself, with companies dispensing special offers, sale and promotional notifications, and other preferential material to individuals who sign up for their mailing lists. As an advertising tool its utility is considerable, mainly for cultivating a feeling of loyalty in existing customers.

Interaction time, the length of time a consumer spends engaging with a banner ad, is a metric receiving a large amount of attention from the market analysis sector at present. Cookies and access to the browser history of target audiences, the same technology responsible for user-specific search engine ads, allow for uniquely focused advertising strategies. A pool of Web occupants is selected, their interests indexed and prioritized, and appropriate ads and content produced.

Whether targeting is behavioral, site-based, geographic, or demographically determined makes little difference. Targeted campaigns help you get the most for your dollar without wasting your product?s face-time in uninterested market sectors.

Know Your Audience

?

It might seem like a basic piece of advice, but knowing the sector you?re targeting is absolutely crucial to making a splash in your chosen market. The contextual methods aside, an emergent field known as Behavioral Targeting, focused on adapting a user?s history into an individually tailored advertisement portfolio dynamically capable of following the user throughout their browsing experience. Getting on board by engaging in market research and analyzing site data is the first step to really modernizing your brand.

The internet is the biggest bazaar in the world, and it never closes or slows down. Establishing and preserving a strong, visible presence in the online community through online advertising is just the first step to real success.

Mega Millions raises tough question for job seekers

Bryan Smith / Zuma Press

Sure, a $500 million jackpot is big, but after taxes ... better just tell the hiring manager you would have to think about your options.

By Eve Tahmincioglu

The Mega Millions lottery jackpot has hit a record $500 million. Would you quit working if you won it?

If you have a job interview this week, that is hardly an idle question.

The lottery, to be drawn Friday, is on a lot of people?s minds this week, and as a result hiring managers may pull out a doozy of an interview question.

Joyce Lain Kennedy, author of ?Job Interviews for Dummies,? calls the lottery question one of the top 10 ?prime-time tricky probes? employers lay on workers these days.

When you answer the lottery question -- or any interview question -- you want to leave out any inkling you?re not excited about working hard, no matter what the circumstances.

?Recruiters report that high numbers of job seekers blab negative information without realizing they?re making a farewell address to a job opportunity,? Kennedy said.

Even if you would dump work in a heartbeat following such a windfall, it?s best to keep your feelings to yourself.

Kennedy advised responding along these lines: ?While you?d be thrilled to win the lottery, you?d still seek out fulfilling work because working, meeting challenges and scoring accomplishments are what make most people happy, including you.? And don?t forget, she added, to ?say it with a straight face.?

Many of you would have no problem with the question, based on an unscientific poll of my 13,000-plus Twitter followers.? When I asked, ?Would you stay in your job if you won the lottery?? more than 90 percent offered a resounding ?yes.?

Most comments were along the lines of @heatherecoleman?s tweet: "Yes - I love what I do!"

But a few tweeters were contemplating post-winnings career adjustments.? ?There would be major course change," said @ed_mcfarland.

For some employers, the best answer to the lottery question is one that?s honest.

?I think it is worse for the candidate to say that they would stay, never leave, etc.,? said David Lewis, president of HR consulting firm OperationsInc. ?I?m looking for honesty and real people vs. fakers who are trying to tell me what they think I want to hear.?

Others believe an answer that sounds like you?re looking for any reason to get away from the daily grind is troublesome.

Ken Wisnefski, CEO of Internet marketing firm WebiMax, often asks applicants a lottery-type question: ?What would you do with $1 million??

Have you caught a case of lottery fever yet? TODAY's Matt Lauer and Kevin Tibbles report.

?I have had one gentleman say, ?I wouldn?t be here right now,? and that gentleman did not receive a second interview," he said. "I have, however, heard responsible answers including, ?I would invest it and grow it to $2 million.?? That response earned a second interview and eventually a position at my company.?

Patricia Siderius, managing director of executive outplacement services at BPI group, offered a good suggestion for an answer to the lottery question: ?I would need time to understand how this fortune will or will not change my life.?

A life change is exactly what Benjamin Flynn, 38, a New York City cab driver, is worried about and why he?s not sure he even wants to win millions.

?Money is the root of all evil,? he said. But, he added, if he did win he?d quit his job and go back to school to become a surgical nurse.

Before we all start planning our lives post lottery-winnings, it may be time for a reality check.

Your chances of winning the Mega Millions is 1 in 176 million, according to Jim Lackritz, professor of management information systems at the San Diego State University?s College of Business Administration. ?Not a good chance, and not worth it,? he said.

An individual winner of Friday's jackpot could elect to take an immediate cash payout of $359 million before taxes.

Would you quit work if you won the $500 Mega Millions jackpot?

Rihanna Not Dating Ashton Kutcher

'I'm happy and I'm single,' singer tells reporters at a press conference in London.

Rihanna had been romantically linked to Ashton Kutcher last week, when a report surfaced that she had headed over to the actor's house late one night and stayed there for several hours.

At a London press conference for "Battleship," a reporter used her one question with the pop star to ask about the alleged rendezvous. After meandering around about Ri's fans and their love for her, she eventually got to her point: Would she get any visits from Kutcher while out promoting the film?

The singer's response? Well, she wasn't amused. "Wow, how disappointing was that question," she said in a video posted on the website. "I'm happy and I'm single, if that's what you're really asking."

While in London, the singer took some time to visit her pal Drake, who was in town performing at the O2 arena earlier this week. The singer was spotted riding the Tube to the show on Tuesday night. Wearing her hair blond and shaggy, she was decked out in thigh-high boots, a leather jacket and a flame-embossed T-shirt over barely there denim shorts. The only way she disguised herself was with a pair of sunglasses.

"There's so much traffic. It's approximately an hour and a half to the O2 every time. ... I hate waking up early and I'm always late, so the tube is like 10 minutes," she told interviewer Jonathan Ross recently about her love for public transportation. Post-show she and Drake headed to Low nightclub to hang out with pals.

Ri is currently out promoting the May release of "Battleship," but she recently shot a trio of music videos. Fans should keep a lookout for her clip with Drake for "Take Care," as well as videos for her collabo with Coldplay on "Princess of China" and her own video for "Where Have You Been."

QVEST: How do you describe your style?

Cherilyn MacNeil:?I tend to gravitate toward things that are natural and down to earth, and that?s definitely also reflected in the way I dress. I just want to be comfortable, and feel like myself in my clothes. I?ve always liked old things, and often incorporate retro elements into my outfits, mixing them together with newer elements. Actually I really dislike shopping and I?m never really up-to-date with the latest trends. Instead I look for things that enhance my personality and my body, and suit my lifestyle.
Of course I do dress up a little bit more on stage. In general I like to wear dresses more than pants. I enjoy clothes that you just have to throw on. A bit retro usually means more feminine, and I like that, but don?t like to go all the way with retro clothes. I?m a fan especially of the styles of the Twenties and the Sixties with their short, fun dresses. I love bright colours, and wear them gladly, but you?ll also find me wearing a lot of grey and navy blue.

Check-In Needs To Work, But How Can We Fix It?

shutterstock_56330170Remember Highlight? That app that everyone thought was hot stuff back at SXSW? I used it for a few days and then deleted it, discovering quite quickly that the app, despite some utility, was an absolute battery hog. But what Highlight did was prove that, given the proper scenario, check-in works and is important. What frustrates me most, however, is that we keep doing it wrong. Take this new app, Chkin.at, for example. It allows you to check-in at various websites and to become King of a certain page, thereby giving you certain conjugal rights with the ladies of your Kingdom (not really). Rather than dismiss it outright - it kind of works, but it spurred this little rant - I'll note that it, like so many other apps, suffers from that fatal flaw: the check-in.

Conserving Chagos: On our way to Three Brothers

On our way to the Three Brothers (the islands on the Great Chagos Bank where we will be working next) we returned and spent the day on Victory Bank, a dish-shaped atoll submerged to at least 5 metres depth at its shallowest, where the BRUVers needed to do some more sampling. The divers who wanted to had an early dive to do their work, in order to be out of the water before the BRUVs were deployed and attracted their large toothed clients.

The rest of us used the day to catch up with data entry and some preliminary analyses. These analyses show that the coral continues to recover, particularly in deeper water where it had lagged behind the shallower depths. Also, the surgeonfish and parrotfish habituation studies (which are looking at responses to diver approach in fished, lightly fished and marine protected areas throughout the Indo-Pacific region), show that in Chagos, divers can approach about 60-85% closer to these species than even in other marine protected areas.

The diving was spectacular, very good visibility, schools of huge fish and a very large nurse shark which almost swam into the divers ? resulting in a superb photo by David which will be posted as soon as we get back to Diego Garcia and have a normal internet link.

Jessica Meeuwig, one of our ?BRUVers,? takes on the story from here:

Anne Sheppard Middle Brother

Photo: Anne & Charles Sheppard/ Chagos Conservation Trust

Victory Bank: a small submerged atoll rising from 100s of metres to 5 metres . It measures approximately 6 km x 4 km, a perfect oval of coral surrounding a lagoon with reported depths of 33m. Last surveyed in 1837 when its depths were plumbed by leadline, Victory Bank?s most recent research consisted of several exploratory dives by the intrepid Professor Sheppard in 1979.

As part of this expedition, the Pacific Marlin?s Captain Neil Sandes carefully navigated the entrance to the lagoon. We think the Marlin is probably the first ship to ever anchor inside the lagoon! We then dropped our baited remote underwater video systems (BRUVS) at eight locations distributed around the submerged rim of the atoll. On retrieval, we found several of our bait bags shredded. A quick review of the footage found that a beautiful young tiger shark, stripes blazing, and a rather large nurse shark were the culprits.

Crystal clear water and shoaling fish had us determined to return. So on the divers? rest day a few days later, we anchored on Victory Bank at 07:30. A morning shallow dive provided us with a fish-eye view of the seascape as a whole. The coral studded rim dropping off precipitously into the deep blue, with the shoulders of the atoll home not only to corals but large school of snapper and fusiliers, silvertip and grey reef sharks, but also a very curious nurse shark. We then spent the rest of the day dropping BRUVS in the lagoon of the atoll down to 40m and repeating samples on the rim.

Combined, this footage will provide us with a quantitative understanding of the fish assemblages of this very isolated and pristine submerged atoll. To learn what constitutes unexploited fish communities in both the shallow and deep areas of these atolls provides us with an essential reference point to understand the impacts of human activities on coral reef ecosystems ? and is why it is so important that the Chagos has been protected as a no-take marine reserve.

Charles Sheppard wraps up the day?s activities:

Team members Nick, Pascaline and Bob had an encounter which made everyone extremely envious; they saw the first whale shark observed underwater in Chagos. According to Nick, it was only a small one, but at about five metres long, it was still a heart-stopping sight. Again, the curse of the working marine biologist had myself and Anne with heads down recording the coral cover and missing it swimming over our heads.

Late afternoon we had a fairly bumpy journey over to the Three Brothers. The anchorage here is fairly exposed to the wind and sea so we hope it will settle soon.

Glutamine The Silent Supplement Staple | Bodybuilding ...

Muscle & Strength recently reviewed the supplement habits of natural male bodybuilders and found whey protein and creatine to be the most popular. No shock there. Nearly every hardcore lifter on the planet uses these two supplement staples. But here?s where it gets interesting

Next in popularity were nitric oxide, a multivitamin, fish oil, BCAAs, and?glutamine. Yes,?glutamine. In fact,?L-glutamine?was actually the third most popular supplement choice of competitive natural bodybuilders, right behind whey protein and creatine.

Conversely, if you explore a muscle building forum, glutamine is still often seen as a mystery. Few lifters know what?L-glutamine?is, what glutamine does, and how, when and why it should be taken. Let?s take a deeper look at this silent supplement staple, and answer some of your glutamine questions.

What is?Glutamine?

Glutamine is the most abundant amino acid found in the body. Glutamine (or?L-Glutamine) makes up over 60 percent of the skeletal muscle tissue. It is a fuel used by the digestive tract and immune system. 19 percent of a Glutamine molecule is made up of nitrogen, making it the primary conductor of nitrogen to the muscles. It is especially found in high concentrations in the brain, muscles, gut lining, lungs, heart, kidney, and liver where it has multiple and critical functions.

How is?Glutamine?Used by the Body?

1. Primary source of energy for the immune

2. It is converted to glutamic acid in the brain and promotes the synthesis of GABA, an important brain neurotransmitter. Many believe that L-Glutamine enhances mental function.

3. Maintains the structural integrity of the intestinal lining.

4. Plays a major role in synthesizing muscle?protein?and cell-volumizing.

5. Assists with blood sugar control.

?

Glutamine and Muscle Building

plays a vital role in?protein?metabolism, cell volumizing, increased production and secretion of Human Growth Hormone (HGH) and anti-catabolism i.e. the impairment and breakdown of muscle tissue, especially in bodybuilders.

Although, there has been no conclusive research into the effects of supplementation on adults in weight training, a recent study showed that a dramatic 400 percent increase in HGH levels could occur by the consumption of just 2 grams of glutamine.

Other consistent research findings show that after an intense workout lactic acid build up has occurred in the muscles, but at the same time glutamine levels are reduced by as much as 50%. Studies have also shown that glutamine supplementation effectively reduces muscle tissue breakdown and improves protein metabolism.

Furthermore, combination products that include glutamine and BCAAs, such as Scivation Xtend and LG Sciences BC + EAA have become extremely popular in bodybuilding communities because of their ability to reduce muscle soreness, and impact on recovery.

?

How Much Glutamine?

It is very common for a bodybuilder or athlete to supplement with 10 to 20 grams of glutamine per day. It is recommend that you take 5 grams per dose, at the following times:

Before Bed ? Take 5 grams of glutamine right before you turn in for the night. A hefty amount of research indicates that glutamine supplementation right before bed leads to improved growth hormone levels while sleeping.

First Thing in the Morning ? Take 5 grams of glutamine immediately after waking. Your body is in a fasting state and can benefit from glutamine supplementation.

Post-Workout ? Take 5 grams of glutamine 30 to 60 minutes after your workout. Post-workout glutamine will help you to recover after an intense training session.

?

Glutamine Supplementation

Glutamine?is the primary fuel of the immune system and a secondary fuel of the digestion system. So possible additional benefits of glutamine supplements may include the following:

- Stronger immune system less prone to disease and infection.

- Reverse some of the intestinal damage caused by anti-inflammatories.

- Possible positive effects on neurodegenerative diseases.

- Help with long and short term memory.

Autonomous University of Barcelona researchers, in collaboration with an experimental group from the Academy of Sciences of Slovakia, have created a cylinder which hides contents and makes them invisible to magnetic fields. The device was built using superconductor and ferromagnetic materials available on the market. The invention is published this week in the journal Science.

Science-Fiction Video - Is time travel possible? Watch this curious story from Canada. - www.museevirtuel-virtualmuseum.ca

The cylinder is built using high temperature superconductor material, easily refrigerated with liquid nitrogen and covered in a layer of iron, nickel and chrome. This simple and accessible formula has been used to create a true invisibility cloak.

The cylinder is invisible to magnetic fields and represents a step towards the invisibility of light - an electromagnetic wave. Never before had a device been created with such simplicity or exactness in theoretical calculations, or even with such important results in the laboratory.

Researchers at UAB, led by ?lvar S?nchez, lecturer of the Department of Physics, came up with the mathematical formula to design the device. Using an extraordinarily simple equation scientists described a cylinder which in theory is absolutely undetectable to magnetic
fields from the outside, and maintains everything in its interior completely isolated from these fields as well.

The ferromagnet attracts magnetic field lines, the superconductor repels magnetic field lines and the superconductor-ferromagnetic bilayer cloaks a magnetic field. An object inside the cloak would be magnetically undetectable. Video courtesy of J. Prat-Camps, C. Navau, A. Sanchez
Equation in hand and with the aim of building the device, UAB researchers contacted the laboratory specialising in the precise measurement of magnetic fields at the Institute of Electrical Engineering of the Slovak Academy of Sciences in Bratislava. Only a few months later the experimental results were clear. The cylinder was completely invisible to magnetic fields, made invisible whatever content was found in its interior and fully isolated it from external fields.

The superconductor layer of the cylinder prevents the magnetic field from reaching the interior, but distorts the external field and thus makes it detectable. To avoid detection, the ferromagnetic outer layer made of iron, nickel and chrome, produce the opposite effect. It attracts the magnetic field lines and compensates the distortion created by the superconductor, but without allowing the field to reach the interior. The global effect is a completely non-existent magnetic field inside the cylinder and absolutely no distortions in the magnetic field outside.

Magnetic fields are fundamental for the production of electric energy - 99% of energy consumed is generated thanks to the magnetic camps within the turbines found in power stations - and for the design of engines for all types of mechanic devices, for new advances made in computer and mobile phone memory devices, etc. For this reason controlling this field represents an important achievement in technological development. Scientists are perfectly familiar with the process of creating magnetism. However, the process of cancelling at will is a scientific and technological challenge, and the device created by UAB scientists opens the way for this possibility.

The results of this research project also pave the way for possible medical applications. In the future, similar devices designed by UAB researchers could serve to block a pacemaker or a cochlear implant in a patient needing to undergo a magnetic resonance.

More information: Experimental Realization of a Magnetic Cloak, Science 23 March 2012: Vol. 335 no. 6075 pp. 1466-1468. DOI: 10.1126/science.1218316

ABSTRACT
Invisibility to electromagnetic fields has become an exciting theoretical possibility. However, the experimental realization of electromagnetic cloaks has only been achieved starting from simplified approaches (for instance, based on ray approximation, canceling only some terms of the scattering fields, or hiding a bulge in a plane instead of an object in free space). Here, we demonstrate, directly from Maxwell equations, that a specially designed cylindrical superconductor-ferromagnetic bilayer can exactly cloak uniform static magnetic fields, and we experimentally confirmed this effect in an actual setup.

Real Estate Investors & preNOD Leads Foreclosures & Short Sales

Article by John McNeil & Richard Butler

Hi! This is John McNeil. I?m the creator of the Yellow Letter???the original Yellow Letter marketing system created for real estate investors by a real estate investor.

In this short article, I?m going to be answering some of the questions that we get asked by our customers. One of the questions that we get asked a lot is what is a pre-NOD Lead?

A lot of people call them pre-NODs. A pre-NOD is a notice of default. A pre-NOD notice of default is a homeowner who has been behind on their mortgage payments 30, 60 or 90 days and legal action has not yet been filed against them.

You will see references to both pre-NOD leads and pre-NOD lists?

A pre-NOD lead is the name and the address of a homeowner who has been behind on their mortgage maybe 30, 60 or 90 days delayed on their payments in the last few months. A pre-NOD list is just multiple names and addresses of people who have been behind on their mortgages.

One of the questions that we get is, how do I use these leads in my real estate business?

Pre-NOD leads put you ahead of the pack. You will have houses purchased and under contract before your competition even knows they?re available. Pre-NOD leads will give you the advantage. Whilst other investors are waiting for pre-foreclosure leads to become available, you?ll be making deals, helping homeowners and putting money in the bank.

What type of marketing do we recommend when working with these leads? A Direct mail letter is the perfect medium for mailing to pre-NOD leads. At yellowletter.com, we have created a marketing system, a method that allows you to be in control of your marketing without doing any of the work. We do it all!

Market to your pre-NOD list with Yellow Letter?s automated mailings and the results will be great!

If you would like to receive more information about the pre-NOD list that we have available, then we can send you 20 videos that will help you learn about pre-NODs and how they can help you in your business. Just visit our website, enter your name and email address, and we?ll send you the information. We?ll be glad to contact you and you can be on your way to making more money in real estate investing with pre-NODs.

Making a Sweet Splash @ JFK Elementary! :: HeartBeet Cafe

After having kids, leading a healthy lifestyle was not as easy as when it was just about my husband and I.? With 3 kids, we found ourselves going for quick, easy food fixes ? and we all know what they are!? One day, after seeing & feeling some of the impacts of eating unhealthy food, we just said ?no? and regained our focus on creating a healthy lifestyle for the whole family. It?s not easy, but it is CRITICAL! It?s all about creating new routines.? Today, there are healthier, tasty, and inexpensive products for every type of food and drink ? so there are no excuses for NOT making healthier choices. HeartBeet Caf? is focused on teaching kids how to make those healthier, nutritious food and drink choices in a fun and entertaining way.

HeartBeet Cafe visited John F Kennedy Elementary School in East Islip on February 28th to help teach students about the importance of drinking water and avoiding sugary drinks, especially when you are exercising.

After my HeartBeet Cafe ?Making a Sweet Splash? presentation to the 2nd grade, one of the elementary students approached me.? She wanted to tell me that ice cream was good for our teeth?too cute!? I explained to her that, although there may be some ingredients in her ice cream that ?may? be good, there is also a lot of sugar in many ice cream brands.? And that amount of sugar is not always good for our teeth.? I wanted her to go home and sit down with her parents and review the nutrition label and ingredients on her ice cream package ? this will reveal exactly what is in the ice cream?whether good or bad.? HeartBeet Cafe continues to emphasize the importance of looking at nutrition labels, even if the rest of the box claims that the food or drink is healthy, low calorie, low fat, low carb, or no sugar added!!? Keep reading those nutrition labels and ingredients!

After learning all about the importance of water, why we should avoid sugary beverages, and how to create natural zest and flavor to our water by adding fruit, our JFK students were introduced to Hint Water. Hint Water is water with a ?hint? of fruit flavor including watermelon, strawberry kiwi, and blackberry, to name a few. Hint contains no artificial flavors, colors or sweeteners, no preservatives, no sugar, and has zero calories.? Hint Water is a fantastic option to all of the unhealthy, sugary beverages out there!

Apple TV (2012)

Two years later, and our Editors' Choice set-top box Apple TV ($99, 4 stars) is back, and it's new and improved. Those improvements are very, very slight, but they still count. The 2012 model is pretty much identical to the old one in size, shape, features, and its $99 (list) price tag. For a full rundown of every nook, cranny, and function of the Apple TV, our review of the last iteration of product still applies here. An overhauled iOS-like interface gives the Apple TV a fresh menu system, but that's available to last-gen Apple TV owners through a software update.?Still, the new model supports 1080p video and keeps its under-$100 price, so it retains its Editors' Choice crown.

Design
Physically identical to the last version, the new Apple TV is a tiny black, square puck measuring 0.9 by 3.9 by 3.9 inches (HWD) and weighing 9.6 ounces. The front panel shows a single white light indicating that the box is on, the top has a matte black finish with an Apple logo on it, and around back are connectors for the power cable, HDMI, microUSB, optical audio, and Ethernet. Even the remote is identical, a slight, simple silver wand with a navigation pad and play/pause and menu buttons. If you put the new Apple TV next to the previous one, you can't tell them apart.

The Apple TV uses the new iOS 5.1-based interface right out of the box. You can install the same interface on the old Apple TV, however, and get the same features and menus. Prior to receiving our review unit, we loaded the new Apple TV OS on our old Apple TV, and you can read our hands-on story for a closer look.

Getting Online
Setting up the new Apple TV was fast and easy. I just had to enter my language and Wi-Fi information, and I was into the main menu. Features like movies, TV, and music (and all other direct Apple services) require signing into the iTunes Store, but once that was set it was clear browsing. It's certainly an easier process than setting up a Roku box; I didn't have to activate anything through the Web. The new Apple TV interface even let me log into Netflix without hitting the Web. Simplicity is key here.

Video services include access to your iTunes libraries, Netflix, YouTube, Vimeo, and MLB.tv. It's a good selection, but Hulu Plus would really add to the device's functionality. Considering Apple sells most recent episodes over iTunes, though, the absence of Hulu makes sense.

Music encompasses both the massive iTunes library, including your own music ripped from CDs if you want to spend $24.99 per year on iTunes Match, and a full selection of podcasts and Internet radio stations. But you need to subscribe to iTunes Match if you want to listen to any of your purchased music on iTunes without a networked computer or an iOS device, even if your music library is purchased ?completely?through iTunes.

Connect Your iPad
iPad and iPhone integration is seamless, with videos and music streamed wirelessly through AirPlay to the Apple TV with just two taps of the screen. You can also use your iOS device as an Apple TV remote, which makes entering text when logging into accounts or searching for movies and music much easier thanks to the touch screen keyboard.

The only real difference between the new Apple TV and the old model is that the new one supports 1080p video and can output at that resolution. While you won't notice much of a difference if you have a smaller TV, if your HDTV can support 1080p and is larger than 40 inches, video will be crisper than its lower-resolution equivalent. This, however, depends on the quality of the content and your bandwidth. I watched a preview of "The Simpsons: Tapped Out" in 1080p and it looked clear and smooth. After that, I loaded a "Being Human" featurette during a dip in network performance and the video looked slightly blocky thanks to the compression. The 1080p support is great when your media can reach that level, but that won't always be certain.

If you already have an Apple TV from 2010 or you don't have a large 1080p HDTV, you don't need the new box. If you're new to the game, and want to stream all of your iTunes media and Netflix, the new Apple TV is a top choice. If you have an iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad, the benefits are even more apparent thanks to AirPlay support and the ability to use those devices as a remote. It still doesn't have a particularly large selection of non-Apple services, but a good-looking, dead-simple-to-use interface helps the Apple TV keep its Editors' Choice rating. If you don't want an Apple product and prefer more streaming media services over the iTunes library, consider the Roku 2 XS ($99, 3 stars) or the inexpensive Roku LT ($49, 4 stars). The Roku 2 XS offers 1080p output, and the Roku LT offers 720p video at half the price of the Apple TV.

London games organizers unveil Olympic torch route

(AP) ? Olympic organizers have unveiled a street-by-street map of the 8,000-mile torch relay for the 2012 London Games.

They're also releasing details of some of the 8,000 torchbearers who will carry the flame across Britain and Ireland beginning May 19.

They include Britain's oldest full-time firefighter and a soldier who lost three of his limbs in an explosion in Afghanistan.

While most will run, the flame also will be carried on skates and rowed along the River Thames during its 70-day trip.

Details of the final stages of the journey are being kept under wraps.

The International Olympic Committee ruled relays should be confined to host countries after human rights protests disrupted the international route before the 2008 Beijing Games.
